Book 9/30.
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
We are only three months into 2024 yet this is my fourth romance read of the year, so clearly I am going a little heavy on the genre 😅 but don’t blame me as I am fully in my newlywed era 👰♀️
Part of Your World is the story of Alexis Montgomery, a wealthy and privileged 37 year old doctor, and Daniel Grant, a super hot 28 year old carpenter/mayor/B&B manager. On her way home one night from an out-of-town funeral, Alexis drove into a ditch after she swerved to avoid a raccoon and, while waiting for a tow truck, ended up being rescued by Daniel. Afterwards, she goes to the only place that is still open in Wakan’s off season, where she runs into Daniel and after a wild bet, a gourmet grilled-cheese sandwich, and a cuddle with a baby goat, Alexis has her world turned upside down by Daniel.
While her ultra-wealthy parents want her to carry on the family legacy of world-renowned surgeons, Alexis does not need glory or fame. She is fine with being a “mere” ER doctor. And every minute she spends with Daniel and the tight-knit town where he lives, she is discovering just what is really important. I enjoyed reading their love story unfold, more so because Daniel is just the cutest, sweetest, tattooed golden retriever boyfriend: trusting, kind, unashamed of his feelings, and, while a little naïve, full of optimism and positivity that he selflessly pours out into everyone who surrounds him. I also loved the message of the significance of found family, and how they can be there for us in ways our given family never will. This was my first Abby Jimenez book and given I rated it 5 stars, I cannot wait to read Yours Truly, the second book in the Part of Your World Series, centered on Alexis’ awesome bestie Briana.
PS: A romcom this book may be, it also deals with serious real-life issues in the form of emotional abuse by side character, on page gaslighting by side character and on page physical abuse of a secondary character.
