Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan

Book 24/30.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I got married in 2024 so you knowww book 24 of my reading challenge is going to be a romance novel 😌

Before I Let Go is a second chance romance novel centered on and around Yasmen and Josiah Wade. Their love was supposed to last forever. But when life delivered blow after devastating blow, Yasmen and Josiah found that love had its limits . . it couldn’t save their marriage.
Yasmen wasn’t prepared for how her life fell apart, but she’s finally starting to find joy again. She and Josiah have found a new rhythm: co-parenting their two kids and running a thriving business together. Yet, like magnets, they’re always drawn back to each other, and now they’re beginning to wonder if they’re truly ready to let go of everything they once had.
One stolen kiss leads to another . . . and then more. It’s hot. It’s illicit. It’s good – until it starts to hurt again. As old wounds reopen, Yasmen and Josiah wonder if it is too late for them to find forever.
Or could they be even better, the second time around?

This was my first Kennedy Ryan book and I look forward to reading more of her work as everything about this novel felt real – the couple, their family, their friends, their problems, their yearning… it all felt very real. There are some heavy topics in this romance novel and the author shares a content warning before the story begins. Heavy topics go with heavy emotions, but the author handled them with skill as they did not overshadow the joy, laughter, strong friendship and family bonds that are a huge part of Yasmen and Josiah’s journey.

I quite enjoyed this story about soulmates who got derailed by life and are now a divorced couple co-parenting and running a business together. As the story progresses we see Yas and Si heal as individuals, with therapy being the main catalyst for it, and as a BIG therapy advocate I absolutely loved to see it 🤩
