Book 33/30.
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
In a peaceful retirement village, four unlikely friends meet up once a week to investigate unsolved murders. But when a brutal killing takes place on their very doorstep, The Thursday Murder Club find themselves in the middle of their first live case. Elizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron might be pushing eighty but they still have a few tricks up their sleeves. Can our unorthodox but brilliant gang catch the killer before it’s too late?
This was a very funny murder mystery that had me LAUGHING OUT LOUD every so often. There were also lots of twists and turns, and just when you thought you had something figured out the author soon let you know that you had it all wrong. It is the diverse characters Richard Osman creates and develops (Elizabeth with her mysterious and shadowy past was my favourite š), and his tight plotting with the numerous secrets and their reveals, along with the comic touches, that makes this an entertaining and delightful read.
I thoroughly enjoyed this debut (Elizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron have my whole heart) and I cannot wait to read the rest of the books in the series š¤©
