I don’t know about you
But I’m feeling 22 2-2-2
When the clock struck midnight on January 4th, mon husbebé and I stepped into our 2-2-2 🩷💘 Era and I love that for us 😌
You might be reading this and thinking, “I love that for you too 😍 but what on earth is a 2-2-2 🩷💘 Era?” Well, glad you asked. Our 2-2-2 🩷💘 Era is currently my favourite fact about my husband and me, and I fully intend to share it all year long with anyone and everyone willing to listen. And even those unwilling to listen. Lol. Jk. Kinda 😅
We are in our 2-2-2 🩷💘 Era because Di asked me to be his girlfriend on January 4, 2020. Exactly two years later, on January 4, 2022, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Then, on January 4, 2024, in front of our nearest and dearest, we said I do and officially became husband and wife.
On January 4, 2026, we celebrated our second wedding anniversary, a celebration that doubled up as our sixth dating anniversary. Those six years fall into perfectly even chapters: two years of dating, two years of being engaged, and now two years of marriage (and counting). Hardly any other couple can say that, and even fewer can say it with our kind of precision since January 4th is our centre, and it is only the years—2020, 2022 and 2024—that change, forming flawless blocks of two years each.
That straight-out-of-a-fairytale rarity is the reason I have declared 222 as mine and my husband’s angel number for the year. For anyone not familiar with the term, here is the Google AI overview on angel numbers:
Angel numbers are recurring sequences of numbers (like 111, 222, or 444), and mixed patterns (like 1234, 1212, or 369) believed to be spiritual messages from the universe, guides, or angels, carrying specific vibrations and guidance. They often appear in mundane places—clocks, license plates, or receipts—to offer reassurance, direction, or confirmation that you are on the right path.

Key Aspects of Angel Numbers
Origin: While based on ancient numerology, the modern concept was popularized by author Doreen Virtue in the early 2000s.
Purpose: They function as a “cosmic nudge” or affirmation to pay attention to your current thoughts and circumstances.
Subjectivity: The meaning can be personal and subjective, often depending on what you are experiencing when you see them.
How to interpret: When you see them, consider your current thoughts, feelings, and life situation for context, as they are meant to act as guidance during times of change or confusion.
I had heard the term “angel number” here and there over the years, but I first paid it real attention when Bella Hadid (love me some Bella 😍) launched her fragrance brand, ‘Ôrəbella. Fun fact: Bella intentionally announced ‘Ôrəbella on February 22, 2024 (2/22) because 222 is one of her angel numbers. 222 is the number associated with balance, collaboration, love, and harmony, and I think it is hella cool that my man and I share the same angel number – at least for this year – as Bella Hadid 🤩
In an interview with Bustle to promote Nightcap, the latest ‘Ôrəbella fragrance, she had this to say about her angel number:
I know you’ve also talked about your “angel number,” 222, and how that’s in the ‘Ôrebella bottle caps. What does this number signify to you?
“It’s funny. The past three days I’ve seen 222 everywhere. I even took a picture of one this morning; I laugh so hard because I send it to the group chat all the random times I see it.
[The number] reminds me that my angels are guiding me, and they’re also telling me to continue to walk in my health and my happiness journey. Healing isn’t linear — I think that’s important to know. I’ll be on a really strict healing journey for a while, and then sometimes, I just want to live. And then you realize that by doing that, you’re doing a disservice to yourself, and then you always end up getting back to it.
When I start to see 222, I’m like, ‘OK, I’ve got to get back to myself, and I need to get back to doing the things that I like to do and will make me feel fulfilled and happy.’ And that goes hand in hand with making meaningful connections.
Interesting, right?
But then I forgot all about angel numbers until I came across this article in Cosmopolitan at the beginning of last year, when I first started reclaiming my identity from a person in crisis to one in recovery. I used to watch out for licence plates and geek the fuck out, texting my husband every time I saw a certain number while out and about. Eventually, I realised how common licence plate angel numbers are – seeing your third 888 on a ten-minute drive will do that to ya 😅– so I stopped looking out for them. Now I pay more attention to angel numbers elsewhere, like on digital clocks, receipts, house and phone numbers, measurements, etc etc.
Di and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary in Watamu as the beach is our favourite place on earth. Ever since our first anniversary as a couple, we have celebrated all of our anniversaries at the beach, except for 2024 when we were in Cape Town for our honeymoon. Out of all our anniversary baecations, my favourite has always been the 2021 one.
Di and I are a COVID couple in that we started dating just 2 ½ months before the pandemic hit and the world shut down. We spent the formative months of our relationship indoors, so when we finally had the chance to be outside to celebrate our first anniversary, we grabbed it with the kind of enthusiasm children show for birthday cakes. On top of that, with the Hospitality and Aviation industries hit hard by lockdowns, we were able to secure deals on accommodation and flights for our baecation in Diani that were so fan-fucking-tastic they have never been seen again 😫
Take the fanfuckingtastic deals, add our COVID-couple selves finally being outside, multiply by the milestone of our very first anniversary, and what you get are first baecation vibes that are unequivocally unmatched. Over the years, I would tell Di that I do not think that baecation could ever be matched, let alone surpassed, no matter where we went or how much more money we had to spend.
But our second wedding anniversary baecation spousecation exceeded all expectations, and is now tied with our first anniversary trip as my all-time favourite baecation. Every single day was pitch perfect and the entire trip was filled with angel numbers and signs. The bus we went with had a 111 licence plate number. Di spent exactly 4444 on his alcohol at Carrefour. When we went dolphin spotting, the captain wore a tee with the number 87 (my birth year) on the back. And on our return flight, Di was mistakenly called Mr. Goodluck on his airplane ticket. I cherished every tiny, kismet-y details as confirmation from the Universe that 2026 will overflow with good luck for me, for Di, and for us. Which is why throughout our trip I took time each day to ground myself in the magic of our spousecation, noticing what I could see, hear, smell, taste, and touch, quietly sprinkling my 2026 Big Five manifestations everywhere we went.
I recapped our Watamu highlights on my Instagram stories and created a highlight that you can check out instead of me retelling everything in today’s post. I will keep adding to the highlight as the year goes by, so you might want to keep an eye on it, because I am determined that mon husbebé and I will have the best 2026 of all time! After all, a 2-2-2 🩷💘 Era is not something that comes around every day… or every year!
But even as I plan to milk our 2-2-2 🩷💘 Era for all it is worth, I could not end today’s post without saying writing something about four… the OG.
We got married on January 4, 2024 and in addition to the 4th and 2024, our wedding was on a Thursday which is the fourth day of the week. We got married on our fourth anniversary; I am four years older than him; we live in house number four; his name is Dieudonné and nne is four in Swahili — making 444/4444 our quintessential angel number.
According to American author and former New Age spiritual teacher Doreen Virtue, the angel number 444/4444 is a powerful sign of divine protection, support, and encouragement from angels. It often appears when you are on the right path, prompting you to feel secure and confident in your current decisions and life direction. This harmonises beautifully with the angel number 222, which is a message to trust that everything is working out exactly as it is supposed to, with divine blessings for everyone involved. It serves as a prompt to release worries, have faith, and maintain a balanced, harmonious perspective, as your current path is supported.
It is worth noting though that Virtue, who coined the term angel numbers, is now a Christian YouTuber who “deeply regrets, apologizes, and repents for coining the term and method angel numbers.” That said, she is the most influential populariser – not the founder – of angel numbers, and several spiritual teachers and authors have since expanded or adapted the concept. In fact, the idea that numbers have symbolic or mystical meaning goes back much earlier in numerological traditions: for example, Pythagorean numerology.
222 may be mine and my husband’s angel number for the year, and 444/4444 can be considered our OG angel number, but I do not have an angel number of my own. On that note, I am quite curious to know if anyone reading this has their own angel number… let me know in the comments 😊
And with that I am off to celebrate two months of our 2-2-2 🩷💘 Era by blasting both the OG and re-recorded 22 and replacing every single 22 with 2-2-2 😌
