10 Minutes 38 Seconds in this Strange World by Elif Shafak

Book 2/30.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Another enjoyable read 🤩

I bought this book at the beginning of September 2020 but I was in no hurry to read it as I was not sure I would enjoy it. A myriad of reasons led me to pick it up as my second read of the year, and I am glad I did because it is a very enjoyable book.

Part One (The Mind) was the strongest part of the book for me and I really enjoyed getting to know Leila’s story. The 10 minutes 38 seconds were told in different chapters, with each minute kicking off a new chapter that began with a sensuous memory from Leila’s life, a technique I found very interesting.

The writing could get a bit flowery at times, and I did not enjoy Part Two (The Body) and Part Three (The Soul) as much as I enjoyed Part One, hence the 3 star rating, but all in all I quite enjoyed this.
