Red Dragon by Thomas Harris

Book 9/30.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I bought this on a whim pre-Covid for KES 100 (around $1 back then 😩) and did not expect much from it as I’d watched The Silence of the Lambs years ago and it did not impress me much **Shania Twain voice**. But fucking hell this was AMAZING!!! It read like a multi-episode arc of Criminal Minds which was beyond thrilling for me because I LOVE! LOVE!! LOVE!!! that show. If I could be anything, I’d LOVE to be a CIA/BAU agent or an assassin… but let’s not focus too much on the latter 😅 Growing up reading/watching lots of books/TV shows, the FBI never appealed to me the way the CIA did until I watched Criminal Minds and fell head over heels for the Behavioral Analysis Unit. I say all the time that my intuition is my superpower and so I strongly believe in another world I’d make an excellent BAU agent. I hated to put this book down and by the end of it I was fully convinced to read The Silence of the Lambs as it is considered even more of a classic and must-read than this.

P.S. This is one of the very few books I own with a movie tie-in cover as I used to buy those editions before Goodreads taught me better when I joined the platform in April 2015.
