Sigh! I liked this much less than I thought I would. I went into this expecting a good time, but it was just okay.
I borrowed this from a colleague who was gifted it by another colleague. And the reason colleague 2 gave it out is because while she’s an avid reader and book buyer, she only keeps books she liked enough to read again. If she wouldn’t read it again, she gifts the book to friends and family who might enjoy it. I totally get her. Not the giving out books part, there I can’t relate 😅 But the part where she said she wouldn’t read this again. I wasn’t expecting to share her sentiment, because hello Gabrielle Union!!, but this just didn’t hit the spot. She tells her story in 20 chapters, and while some chapters were stronger than others e.g. Code 261 and Crash-And-Burn Marriage, the book in its entirety just didn’t have enough oomph for me.
