Dear John by Nicholas Sparks

Book 15/30.

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I barely remember it, but I much prefer the movie version … or maybe I just much prefer Channing Tatum. Lol. I do not know what it is about Sparks’ books, but I tend to favour the movie over the book.

My biggest issue with this book is that it reads the same as A Walk to Remember. Savannah and Jamie are more or less the same person – churchgoing, virgin, do-gooders. John and Landon are pseudo bad boys transformed into good guys by the love of their churchgoing, virgin, do-gooders. And, just like Jamie and Landon, (view spoiler).

It was not a bad book per se, but I gave it 2 stars because it was too similar to A Walk to Remember. Had I read it before A Walk to Remember I just might have given it 3 stars.
