I’m baaaaaaaaaack!!! Or, to borrow from Emimen:
Guess who’s back
Back again
Shady’s back
Tell a friend
Guess who’s back, guess who’s back
Guess who’s back, guess who’s back
Guess who’s back, guess who’s back
Guess who’s back
That was supposed to be the opening paragraph for today’s Karibu 2021 post, but fucking hell January was ROUGH!!! It started off soooo beautifully in that my boyfriend and I went to Diani for our anniversary baecation and our time there was nothing short of magical. We came back from Diani on the evening of January 7th and I spent the next three days with my cousins and sister before resuming work on January 11th. That is when all hell broke loose.
Long story short, work is beyond crazy right now as we are working on annual plans for a multinational company with various FMCG products and we handle four markets in Africa – Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Malawi. From a planning perspective I work on just Kenya, but as the Media Director I oversee the other three markets so I am the one ultimately responsible for their quality of work. Not only are we working on annual plans for various FMCG products across four markets, but there was a change in the planning template we normally use and familiarising ourselves with the new one took some time. On the one hand, I have been planning for almost eight years now so this ain’t my first time at the rodeo. I know just how gruelling annual planning can get. But on the other hand, one of my team members is on maternity leave so I took over her docket in addition to my usual workload and that is what is killing me.
I was insanely busy all of January such that by the end of each working day I was ~literally~ The Walking Dead. I had neither the time nor the energy to work on my personal shit. Now February 3rd is here and I am nowhere near ready to resume the blog. I am yet to work on my 2020 reflections as well as set my 2021 goals and word(s) of the year because work is really kicking me in the balls right now. I have not even started working on my 2021 content calendar for the blog, and that is a big fucking deal because by now I either have majority of my content calendar figured out, or I have a clear indication of the direction the blog will take for the year. But as it stands now I have neither of those things 😐
I am currently figuring out new ways of working so that I can successfully juggle all the demands that come with being Valerie Lwile, the Media Director, and Lwile the Leo, the writer. Until I do that the blog is on an extended hiatus and I am not entirely sure when it will be back. I am hoping for some time this month but I cannot promise that. What I do know is that I will definitely be back by/on March 1st. Until then dear reader I hope your 2021 is off to a much better start than mine is and that you are keeping safe.
See you when I see you,
Lwile the Leo
