Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea by Chelsea Handler

Book 26/30.

My rating: 1 of 5 stars

My second 1 star read of the year ๐Ÿ˜’๐Ÿ˜’๐Ÿ˜’

Wow! This was realllllllyyyyyy horrible. This is the first time Iโ€™ve ever read a book in 24 hours not because of how good and unputdownable it was, but because of how bad it was. I couldnโ€™t think of anything I wanted less than to bring this book into a new week so I was determined to finish it over the weekend otherwise I would be tempted to DNF it.

I think if I read this when it came out in 2008 it would have made a slight difference in my rating, because fucking hell this did NOT age well ๐Ÿฅด๐Ÿฅด๐Ÿฅด It had wayyy too many rape โ€œjokesโ€ that were just pathetic to read because one simply does not joke about rape. She also had a shitload of similarly offensive โ€œjokesโ€ on race and sexuality that I did not find the least bit funny. On the other hand, when she wasn’t being offensive she still wasn’t funny as I did not laugh even once when reading this catastrophe of a book.

This is my second Chelsea Handler book, the first being My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands which was a basic 2 star read for me. After wasting a weekend on this catastrophe of a book I can now confidently say I will never ever read another Chelsea Handler book in my life.
