What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty

Book 39/30.

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

If I were to describe this book in one word it would be drawn-the-fuck-out! This book had no business being longer than 200 pages from the reviews at the beginning to the readers guide at the end, yet it’s a whopping 459 pages!!

I bought this book because I really enjoyed Big Little Lies and thought this would be equally enjoyable.

description

This wasn’t a bad story, and the premise is certainly interesting, but the author excessively prolonged Alice’s memory loss storyline in a bid to build suspense, but all it did for me was make the book quite tedious to read. It took forever ever to find out what Alice forgot such that by the time the author finally revealed everything I was so bored!! I also didn’t care for the additional perspectives of Elisabeth and Frannie. I found them boring and absolutely unnecessary as IMO they didn’t add anything to the story.

I’m looking forward to reading more of Liane Moriarty’s work to find out if her books lean more towards Big Little Lies (must read) or What Alice Forgot (proceed with caution).
