Book 2/30.
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
My first Jennifer Weiner read was In Her Shoes which I bought because it was made into a movie starring Cameron Diaz and Toni Colette, so I was certain I was in for a good time.
It ended up being a very mediocre 2 star read, and my second Jennifer Weiner book, Good in Bed, was a hard 1 star read. So going into Who Do You Love, it was either going to be a “third time’s the charm type” of book, or a “three strikes and you’re out” one. And boy am I glad it was the former 😅
This was a very enjoyable love story, set over the course of three decades, between two people who learn that love isn’t always enough. It is told from the dual perspectives of Rachel and Andy, and while I enjoyed Andy’s chapters more, Rachel’s chapters were still a good read. Some of the choices both characters made were very disappointing to me, but that only served to strengthen the book as their poor choices added to the realness of the story.
This might have been a “third time’s the charm” type of book, but I don’t think I’ll be reading any more of Jennifer Weiner’s work anytime soon because I can’t get over just how terrible Good in Bed was 🥴
