The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

Book 44/30.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My 2022 reading challenge goal was to read 44 books and my plan for book 44 was a romance novel because:
1. The number 4 is incredibly significant to my relationship 😌
2. I’m super into saving the best for last and so I chose to close the year with a romance novel not just because it’s my favourite genre, but because I got engaged at the beginning of the year and I intended to end 2022 on the same romantic note that it began 🥰

Enter The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood. This book was ALL OVER my bookstagram for months and I was dyyyiiiiiiinnngggg to read it! DYYYIIIIIIINNNGGGG!!! And it did not disappoint!! Fake dating is one of the most popular tropes in the romance genre, and it is done sooo well here I am giving Ali Hazelwood ALL her flowers 💐🌸🏵🌹🌺🌻🌼🌷
There is a lot about The Love Hypothesis that reminded me of my fave Nora Roberts, the OG romance writer, which is why I loved it sooo much! I read it in (more or less) one sitting because it was just! sooo!! GOOD!!! The storyline, the academia setting (I’ve never read anything about women in STEM before and this was a good introduction into that world), the characters… I LOVED everything about this book! Especially Dr. Adam Carlsen 😍😍😍🥵🥵🥵
And can we talk about how the epilogue was sheer perfection and 100% something I would do 🤩😍 it’s impossible to say more without giving anything away, so all I will say is I geeked the fuck out reading that absolutely perfect epilogue because I found it sooo fucking cool that what Olive did one year later is EXACTLY what I would have done 🤩

I LOVE that I ended my 2022 reading challenge with a 5 star read 🤩 In fact, The Love Hypothesis lost out on the 2021 Goodreads Choice Award for Best Romance to People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry by a paltry 563 votes. Months ago I decided that You and Me on Vacation will be the inaugural read of my 2023 reading challenge as my fiancé and I will be on vacation at the time and I can be a lot on the nose from time to time seeing as I have a lot of nose to begin with 😅 Now I’m even MORE excited because The Love Hypothesis was EXCELLENT and (insert my own hypothesis 😎) if 563 people thought PWMoV was even more excellent then it should be so much fun to find out if I agree with them or nah 🤩
