The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life by Mark Manson

Book 23/30.

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I had been wanting to read this for YEARS and thought I would LOVE it because not giving a fuck is something I have always advocated for. Not giving a fuck has always been one of my mantras and I was dying to learn the subtle art of it, so it sucks major balls that I did not connect with this, especially since I deliberately chose this for book 23 because 2023 is *that* year. There were two/three nuggets of wisdom I will carry with me, but otherwise The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life will go down as having hardly any impact on my life 🥴

The main reason I did not connect with this book is because I found it extremely repetitive. Mark Manson rehashed certain points over and over without adding anything new to them, making the book a chore to read. I also oscillated between not understanding what the author was saying, and understanding but not agreeing with him. I liked his anecdotes well enough, he was occasionally funny, and there were some interesting points made, but you need to dig deep to find them.

  1. I kinda liked it, but you make valid points on the repetitiveness. Lemme see what his other book Everything is F*cked may offer.
