Original 2015 Review
I’ve read hundreds, probably even a thousand books. I’ve been into books for as long as I’ve been able to read. But this book is easily a top 10. Erin had me at page 11. Magical. Enchanting. Delightful … I really didn’t want it to end. What a beautiful book. It was really hard to put it down
2025 Reread Review
A mysterious circus appears without warning, arriving overnight with no announcements or explanation. Beneath its black and white striped tents is Le Cirque des Rêves, a spectacular world of extraordinary wonders that comes alive only after dark.
Behind the magic, however, two young magicians, Celia and Marco, are engaged in a dangerous competition. Trained since childhood by their unpredictable mentors, they have been prepared for a contest in which only one can survive. The circus becomes the setting for their battle of imagination and will.
As they compete, Celia and Marco unexpectedly fall deeply in love, creating a connection that seems to affect the very magic around them. Yet their feelings cannot stop the competition. With the fate of the circus performers and its visitors tied to the outcome, everyone is left vulnerable to the consequences of the game.
The Night Circus was the book that reignited my love for reading 10 years ago 🥰 I have loved reading for as long as I have been able to do so, but there was a point in my life shit got really hard and I stopped reading. In 2020 I learnt that trauma can affect your desire to read and that explains why I fell out of love with reading for ± 10 years. Not that I did not read a single book in those ± 10 years, but I would read no more than a dozen books a year and that is significantly low for me. And then I came across Popsugar’s 2015 reading challenge in mid-April, meaning I was almost four months late, but I still managed to read 52 books that year. The Night Circus was my book 1/52 and for me it will always hold a special place in my heart as the book that reignited my love for reading so I was very much looking forward to rereading it 10 years later 🤩
I rated The Night Circus 5-stars when I first read it a decade ago, but this time around I rated it 4-stars simply because it did not make my heart swoon the way it did it 2015 😐
